Fushia have been entertaining audiences with their energetic and fun-filled live shows managing to score themselves a big win in the National Youth Week song writing competition as well as spots on the bill on 2009’s 2-High Festival, Valley Fiesta, Stuff The Stocking Festival and Youth Week 2009.
Forming in high school in late 2007 doing nothing but simple punk covers, the trio took themselves lightly until they soon won National Youth Week 2008 for the “Rock-It” competition, scoring themselves $5000 worth of gear to take things more seriously. The live performances only got better in the following couple of months with the addition of a new member and early into 2009 decent support slots were offered making the band’s name well known to the Brisbane music scene.
2010 only seems to have an exciting future for the boys, with many new boxes to tick on their checklist. Fushia recently supported The Medics in Cairns and Townsville and got local supports with Numbers Radio and Short Stack.
Their debut self-titled EP recorded by Stephen Bartlett (Skinny Jean, The Winnie Coopers) was released in February 2010 and will see the band tour nationally in August to support its release.
