The Medics are a young energetic indie band with insightful songs wide in scope: quiet ambient sounds, epic build ups, breakdowns, light, shade, delicate and intense. They have garnered acclaim in their hometown of Cairns and are rapidly gaining a reputation across Australia for their epic, emotive songwriting style delivered through intense live performances.
Tours and supports slots have included so far Something With Numbers, The Panics, The Grates, Faker, Blue King Brown, Scribe, Kisschasy, Amity Affliction, Behind Crimson Eyes and City Riots. In July 2009 the band headlined their first Queensland tour and was showcased at Big Sound Live in late 2009. The Medics debuted their live show nationally in September 2009 as guests on the Groundswell Tour.
Their second EP This Boat We Call Love, produced by Mark Myers from The Middle East features the focus tracks Joseph and Her Song and is to be released in early 2010 through Starving Kids/MGM.
Jhindu Lawrie, Charles Thomas, Andrew Thomson and Kahl Wallace arrange electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, glockenspiel, keyboards, percussion and 3-part vocal harmonies. The band are tight knit friends and family who take pride in writing music playing to the strengths of individual members.
